Presentation of Awards for Co-operation is Cool Project
Laois Education Centre Thursday 27th April 2006
662 Pupils exhibited 25 projects from 20 Primary
and Post Primary schools and they have been working assiduously during this academic
year on their Co-operation is Cool projects and the result of their work was exhibited
and evaluated on Thursday 27th
April in Laois Education Centre. The pupils have been supported by their
teachers, the curriculum resource materials prepared by Paddy Bates of Laois Education
Centre, parents, community and Glanbia personnel in preparing their projects on
Co-operation. This year the project has
been extended to include schools from
The guest of honour for the evening, Michael Mills, former Ombudsman presented
the prizes.

Glanbia and Laois Education Centre sponsored the
prizes for this competition which include Data Projector, Laptop, Digital Cameras,
Multifunctional 4 in 1 Laser Fax/Scan/Print/Copy and Printer. Each participating school received a copy of
Office and Publisher software and each participating student received a certificate.

Dominic McEvoy, Chairperson of the adjudication
panel announced the winners and made the following comments on behalf of the adjudication
panel:
- The very high and excellent standard of the projects
- Complimented students on their presentation of
the projects and the pride, passion and belief they had in their work.
- Delighted with the use of IT – digital cameras
and camcorders in recording the progress of each project.
- The international links schools had and the extension
of the project to include schools from
Sean Hearn on behalf of Glanbia and Glanbia committee
members said he was delighted with the outstanding quality of all the work in
the exhibition. The number of projects
submitted and the international dimension speaks volumes for the project.
Glanbia are delighted and proud to be associated with Laois Education Centre
and Laois LEADER in promoting this project in schools.
Sean thanked the judges and the unsung heroes – the teachers and the pupils
for their dedication and hard work.
Paddy Bates, Project Co-ordinator welcomed and
thanked teachers, parents, pupils, judges, Glanbia committee members who visited
schools, the guest of honour Michael Mills and the partners Glanbia and LEADER.
