We
were invited over to Laois County Council Offices to a day of learning
about what the County Council do. We were allowed to sit in on a meeting
and listen to the agenda being discussed. This was very interesting and
fun to listen to.
The trip to the landfill site was also very good; the computerised system
was very complicated and modern. The birds of prey at the dump were very
good interesting and a great way prevent other wild birds form scavenging
and polluting the surrounding area.
On the same day we were also given a complete guided tour of the Portlaoise
Water Plant. This was also very good but the photographer from the paper
was annoying!
During classes a representative from Laois County Council visited us to
explain about how the election procedure works. This was interesting and
also helpful because we set up an election for King and Queen of the school
after this talk.
Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to visit the Dail. The computer
course or the two days spent setting up a website for our school and the
County Council was good fun to do, very interesting and educational.
