Just Forests uses the decline in global forests,loss of biological diversity, wood usage and the trade in timber to explore issues of poverty and environmental destruction in developing countries and make links with development activities in Ireland. Through networking with regional and global partners Just Forests brings a wealth of knowledge, factual information and practical expertise to bear about the shape of our world today. 10 Schools in the Laois / Offaly area have been invited to take part in this pilot project Pilot Project This learner centred, interactive and participative exhibition (an upgrade of the 1990 Wood of Life Exhibition which travelled to 80 towns in Ireland and was seen by an estimated 200,000 pupils) with an accompanying CD ROM for follow up classroom projects, is designed to help teachers, teacher trainers and teacher service support personnel to explore and present to their pupils and associates, in a development education format, the human development aspects, environmental contribution and economic importance of forests to humanity's long term well-being. The project will contribute to and support the objectives of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, which commenced on 1stJanuary 2005 and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Participating
