Setting SMART targets in the Student Support File (P/PP Teachers only) 12.12.2023
A practical course for primary and post-primary teachers to look at how we can make Student Support Files as practical and user friendly as possible with targets that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be enabled to:
- Identify what SMART targets are and why they are important when planning for students with SEN
- Examine how to set a SMART target for a student using specific needs
- Identify ways to carry this target through into short term planning for the student with SEN

Presenter Biography- Annette Ormond, Grad Dip. SEN, M.Ed ASN
I am a primary teacher working in schools for the past sixteen years. I am a passionate lifelong learner and am currently completing a Masters in Educational Leadership in Waterford Institute of Technology. I am studying towards a degree in psychology with the Open University also. I have completed many different courses in the area of educating children with Special Educational Needs and I have significant and varied experience in the area also. I believe wholeheartedly in the difference we can make in the lives of people with many additional needs through our understanding and our knowledge. I have worked with the Dyslexia Association of Ireland for the past seven years and was awarded the IATSE Testimonial and Award for excellence in Support Teaching in 2017 when studying in University College Dublin.
