Geographical Investigation Webinar 21.9.2020
The aim of this webinar is to give teachers the opportunity to revise the various experiments involved in a river study, to develop fieldwork skills, which include careful observation and recording of information. Some initial interpretation of the data will also be carried out. Making sense of the results with the students will be discussed. Geographical investigation in a COVID-19 world: case study. Q and A session.
Geographical Investigation: River Processes in a V-shaped valley – Webinar with Michèle Castiaux MSc. MSc. (Geology, Environmental Science).
Experiments covered will include:
- River Velocity
- Cross-section and river discharge calculation
- River gradient
- Valley profile
- Bedload analysis
- Field sketch and observation
This year, the focus will be on the impact of geomorphic processes of erosion (hydraulic action, abrasion, attrition, solution).
Geographical investigation in a COVID-19 world: case study (Kippure Education Centre) and opportunity for teachers to exchange tips and advice.
