This seminar is open to school leaders in Primary and Special Schools in Laois Education Support Centre's catchment area only.

Legal issues in managing SNA and Teacher Absences and Leave

1. Unauthorised absences and absenteeism
2. Career Breaks – purpose, eligibility, duration, assessing applications and school policy
3. Sick leave – Medmark referrals, Critical Illness Provision, Return to work, Reasonable Accommodation  and ill health retirement
4. Maternity Leave – doctor’s appointments and ante-natal classes, Paid v. Unpaid Maternity Leave, Health and Safety Leave, breastfeeding breaks.
5. Parental leave – duration, pattern, exceptional circumstances,
6. Job Sharing - eligibility, application, duration
7. Unpaid Leave, brief absences, force majeure leave, bereavement leave etc.
8. Domestic violence leave
9. Assault Leave
