Literacy : Teaching and Managing a Reading Lesson (NQT Primary Only)

The reference for this workshop will be LITERACY AND NUMERACY FOR LEARNING AND LIFE: The National Strategy to Improve Literacy and Numeracy among Children and Young People 2011-2020 (DES: 2011). The workshop will focus on the planning, organisation and teaching of a reading lesson, using a wide range of texts. A key component of the workshop will be exploring the use of variety of reading procedures, skills and comprehension strategies. A selection of assessment methods and tools to evaluate reading will also be discussed.
